UPDATED WITH SUMMARY MEETING NOTES:

Welcome and Pledge

  • Reminder to everyone to check out HOGSCAN calendar daily for events and rides.  Sometimes things get set up at the last minute, so this is the best way to keep informed.  Meeting notes are posted here as well following each meeting under the meeting event.
  • Everyone was asked to complete a two-question survey to provide the Officers with feedback on what they like or would like to see with regard to our Chapter activities.  The survey was emailed to all members in advance and handed out at the meeting to return ASAP.
  • Richmond Harley-Davidson has invited us to join them for a Coalition Ride on May 25th to the Brickhouse restaurant.
  • Reminder of the upcoming Chapter Challenge, April 20th at Lynchburg Harley-Davidson.  YOU MUST HAVE YOUR ORIGINAL NATIONAL HOG CARD to present in order to be counted.  Check in time is from 9am to 1pm.  Lynchburg is raffling off a gift of $2,000 in bike customization work.  Everyone who signs in for the Challenge will be placed in the drawing for this raffle.
  • There will be a Bike night held at Steel Horse on Friday evening, April 19th.
  • Matt Danielson provided a summary of the General Assembly bills related to motorcycles, in short, nothing was passed.  One bill related to noise worked its way through, but was ultimately defeated.  Even if passed, it was amended through VCOM’s efforts to exclude applying to motorcycles.  Matt shared that he will be stepping back from his work with VCOM because he has been elected to become a judge in the Williamsburg area.  He emphasized that VCOM will continue its work and the Tom McGrath Law firm will remain intact.
  • Dennis Grafum, Director of American Legion Post 186 shared info about an upcoming Legacy Motorcycle fundraising ride which supports disabled veterans and their dependents.  It will culminate with an event at the Virginia War Memorial on June 15th, followed by a short ride to the state capitol for pictures with the Governor.  SHHOG members are invited to attend.
  • Chapter membership is officially at 68 members.
  • Our treasurer reports that we have approximately $5,000 available to spend on activities for the year.
  • Anthony Nowell has volunteered to become our Chapter photographer.
  • Our Friday Cheers dates have been assigned and we now need volunteers to sign up. Our dates are May 3rd, May 24th and June 7th.
