Notes from Today's meeting -  September 7, 2024 - start at 9:10 am

Pledge of Allegiance, 
Director Dave Bradley opened the meeting and welcomed everyone

  • Announced that nominations for 2025 officers will begin
  • Announced that going forward, steelhorsehog.com will be the go to place for the event
  • calendar and all chapter related news as HOGSCAN has not been received as well as hoped for by members and has caused confusion
  • Road captains will still use it to collect names before each ride and it will still be used for registering to attend events.
  • The website will still be keeping track of all our miles.

Past rides or events

  • August 10 – picnic – Pocahontas State Park- Jose and family did an outstanding job and thanks to them and others that volunteered their time to the event It was a complete success. Thankswent out for doing such a great job and the food was awesome.
  • August 17 – Nansemond Pow Wow ride – Stafford County – another outstanding success this year! Thanks go to Keith for planning and leading that ride. We had a large turnout for that ride also.
  • August 21-24– Regional West Virginia rally – Charleston West Virginia – Dave mentioned it was an awesome event, Mike swift and his wife attended as well.
  • August 31st- Lonesome Dove ride– Was another great ride with large member participation.

Future rides and events

  • Barbecue exchange – Ride today after the meeting. kick stands up at 10 AM.
  • Richmond Folk festival volunteers are needed September 28 5:30pm to 9:30 PM. Dave mentioned the fact we need 10 members to volunteer for this event and that you get a free T-shirt and close in parking during the event. Dave emphasized the importance of spending time with and getting to know your fellow hog brothers and sisters. Stated the importance of volunteering as it is a major revenue generator for our chapter.
  • Saturday, September 14– 9 AM – Barbeque, bikes & Beer - Libertyove.org - dealership event.  All proceeds support military, vets, first responders.
  • Saturday, September 21– 10am - Road captains meeting here at Steelhorse. State police will also be at Steelhorse that day conducting their training for “ride to save lives”.
  • Saturday,October 12 colonial Beach. That will be posted on the website. There will be more information to come.
  • November 8 - Doc was given the floor and mentioned VCOM is scheduled for November 8.
  • Christmas Ornament Exchange – Dave had no information to disseminate at the meeting.
  • Christmas party - December 7 at Manchester 14 Masonic Lodge. Be on the lookout for an email or talk with John if you would like to help plan or coordinate. We do have BYOB ABC license secured for this event.
  • Name tags have been ordered - No ETA on their Arrival.

News from the dealership:  Sarah Reichardt came up and mentioned they still have a sale on jackets. Also stated interest prices for Bike purchases are pretty high nationwide but Harley Davidson is offering lower interest.
Treasurer John Forbes - Gave us money and money out and also added that the budget is
looking good so we are planning on not selling tickets for the Christmas party this year.
Safety Officer - Donnie spoke for Safety. He is also taking on the role of Safety officer for the upcoming year. Donnie mentioned that it is deer season and also fall so we need to watch out for leaves on the road and also for dogs and deer as a lot of hunters are out in the woods scouting this time of year.
Membership - Bob Chase indicated we have 82 members in our chapter and recognized the newest members that attended the meeting.
Road Captain – Keith gave details on the lunch ride to Gordonsville. He also mentioned the upcoming Road Captain meeting on September 21st and added he will trying Skyline drive ride again October 19th.

Nominations
Director–Doc nominated Dave Bradley for Director and patches seconded it. Dave accepted.
John Forbes nominated Jeff Autry for Director but he respectfully declined.
Assistant Director - Doc was nominated as assistant Director but declined at this time adding he would revisit the nomination next month once we had a full boat of discretionary officers on board. He indicated that is his condition to accept the nomination.
Treasurer - Doc nominated John Forbes as treasure but he respectfully declined.
Secretary - No nomination

Dave reiterated the Chapter needs help and the positions of Discretionary and elected officers filled. Nominations will be conducted again at the next chapter meeting.

Bragging rights

  • Dave mentioned regional rally in West Virginia
  • Doc mentioned his trip to New York and Niagara Falls, Connecticut.
