Steel Horse HOG Chapter #1737
P.O. Box 5974 Midlothian, VA 23112
A successful chapter is made up of several parts, all working together like a well-oiled machine. First, a strong member base is needed full of people that want to see the chapter survive…People that get involved and come together and care for each other like a big family. Not everyone has to get along all the time, but when something happens, you always know your Chapter family is there for you.
In addition to caring members, a good set of Officers is needed to help grow the Chapter in quality and in size. Officers who are willing to lead the chapter throughout the year and make sure everyone is having a good time and their riding needs are met. Officers that listen and are not afraid of change and can come up with ideas to overcome challenges as they arise.
The next piece to this puzzle is a good sponsor. A dealership that is willing to help out its Chapter members. This does not mean giving away merchandise for free or cutting the price of bikes in half… It means being involved with the Chapter and events, whether it be setting up tents or coming in early to open the doors with a smile or building a gathering place for members to come and hang out. It’s also helping with the little things that may go unnoticed but are needed.
And one last thing…Rides. The more rides that are offered, the happier everyone is. That is, after all, one of the reasons why we buy a motorcycle and join a Chapter. Road Captains need to lead short rides and long rides, day rides and overnight rides, easy rides and technical rides. Not all members like the same kinds of rides so multiple options are good.
There is a lot that goes into building and maintaining a successful chapter and I think Steel Horse HOG has it all. From the talented road captains to the entertaining rides, from the Members to the Officers to the Dealer, we have a Chapter that goes above and beyond in all areas. We all bond together to create a wonderful family and the best Chapter in the entire HOG network.
